In the most recent issue of the MIT Technology Review, the editors have defined the 10 of the most promising emerging technologies in 2010.  One of them is Cloud Programming.

The following video clip features Dr. Joseph Hellerstein, Professor of Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley, discussing how programming languages need to be augmented to support larger data sets and more ubiquitous levels of integration.  The full article from the MIT Technology Review is here.

Dr.  Hellerstein’s project Berkeley Orders Of Magnitude (BOOM) site can be found here.  The implications for Master Data Management, predictive analytics and segmentation studies are fascinating.  Being able to add in larger data sets and interpret results from a strategy and segmentation perspective shows much potential.
